A family trade, handed down.

Good, clean water is our passion. It's essential for the health of our families, livestock and land.

Chris started out as a child working with his dad, learning the skills and tricks to getting good, quality water from the ground. We are a family owned and operated business that wants to make you glad you chose us for your water well needs.

Hunter and Brandon were raised in it the same way, and they're the ones on most jobs now.

Water softener and pressure tank installed at a Mississippi home Water you'd want to drink

Water you'd want to drink

Orange stains? White film? Blue-green rings?

South Mississippi groundwater carries iron, hard minerals and low pH, and each one leaves its own signature in your tub and sinks. We install the filter that matches the problem:

  • Water softener — corrects calcium and other harsh minerals that leave a white film
  • Acid neutralizer — corrects a low pH that leaves blue-green film and can corrode copper pipe
  • Iron removal filter — eliminates the iron that stains tubs and toilets orange

“If you're looking to have your own water well installed I highly recommend H&P. Chris and his crew are the best in the business. We are very pleased with the professional work they did. Fast and affordable.”

Well owner questions we get every week

What areas do you serve?

A 100-mile radius of Columbia, including Hattiesburg, Laurel, Picayune, Wiggins, Poplarville, Waynesboro, Collins, McComb, Tylertown, Monticello, Prentiss, Brookhaven, Magee and dozens more. We also serve the Mississippi Gulf Coast and southeast Louisiana. See the full list.

Do you offer emergency service?

Yes — 24-hour emergency service. If you've lost water, call 601-441-1043. Our alternate line is 601-441-1844.

My pump runs but no water comes out. What should I do first?

Turn the pump off. Running a pump dry overheats it and can turn a small repair into a pump replacement. Then call us and we'll check the static water level and the pump before anything else gets damaged.

How much does a new water well cost?

It depends on how deep we have to go, what we hit on the way down, and the pump and tank your household needs — which is why the estimate is free. Call us with your location and what you need the water for, and we'll come look.

How deep will my well have to be?

Most household wells in this part of Mississippi land somewhere in the 100 to 300 foot range, but the geology under your property decides it, not an average. We'll talk through what we expect before we set up.

Do I need a permit to drill a well in Mississippi?

Single-family domestic wells are exempt from state groundwater withdrawal permits. High-capacity and irrigation wells do require an MDEQ permit. Either way the work has to be done by a licensed water well contractor, and a State Well Report is filed with MDEQ after the well is completed.

Do you warranty your work?

We give a one year warranty on new wells and pumps.

How do I pay?

Cash and personal checks.
